Ari Marcopoulos, works between NY and California. He started out assisting Andy Warhol. There's a very strong sense of excitement and narrative to all of his pictures. He tends to implant himself into the day to day lives of his subjects without disturbing their routines/ personalities, creating a very strong sense of intimacy and honesty to his work, as well as a strong trusting and understanding for one another. I've never been lucky enough to catch one of his exhibitions as they seem to be a rare treat, but there's an amazing store in New York called Dashwood books that has an extensive collection of his work, alot of it signed and numbered. I think they publish some of his books too. www.dashwoodbooks.com. Check it out.
